How long does it take for PegLyte to work?
This medication will start to take effect approximately one hour after administration if taken for a medical procedure, and approximately 2 to 4 days if taken for treatment of constipation.
How do you use PegLyte for constipation?
To cleanse the bowel prior to a medical procedure, the usual adult dose is 3 L to 4 L of solution taken by mouth. Rapidly drink 250 mL of solution every 10 to 15 minutes until the bowels are completely cleansed. This medication should be taken without food (after at least a 3 hour fast).
Is PegLyte safe?
Do not take PegLyte for more than 1 week, unless recommended by a physician. The safety of long term use of PEG plus electrolytes, like PegLyte, is unknown. No additional flavorings or ingredients may be added to the solution. PegLyte should be used with caution in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).
Can I drink water after Peglyte?
After drinking each two liters of Peglyte, it is important to continue to drink adequate amounts of clear fluid to prevent dehydration. A carbohydrate/electrolyte fluid like Gatorade/Powerade is preferred.

Is it safe to drink CoLyte?
It is very important to drink 2 liters of Colyte the evening prior to your exam. You can also drink any other clear liquids after you have finished 2 liters of you prep until midnight. Sometimes it is easier to drink if chilled or over ice or through a straw. Some pharmacies also have flavor packets if requested.
