What are the ASQA Standards?
The Standards require ASQA to:
- use a risk-based approach to regulation, implementing processes that are fair, transparent, responsive and consistent and which uphold the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness.
- use auditors and accreditation assessors who meet agreed competency requirements.
What is an accredited course ASQA?
The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) accredits courses that may be offered and/or delivered by registered training organisations (RTOs). Accreditation with ASQA ensures that courses are nationally recognised and meet an established industry, enterprise, educational, legislative or community need.
What are the Standards for training package development?
Training package qualifications are occupational skills standards against which training delivery and assessment of competency can take place. They are developed through a process of national consultation with industry.
What are NVR Standards?
The Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations replace the former AQTF standards for RTOs and are now the standards, known as SNR, guiding nationally consistent, high-quality training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) system.

A Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS) is the approach of, and method adopted by, an RTO with respect to training and assessment designed to enable learners to meet the requirements of the training package or accredited course (Glossary, Standards for RTOs 2015).

Each training package contains three components:
- Units of competency define the skills and knowledge needed, and how to apply them in a workplace context.
- A qualifications framework contains groups of units of competency used to develop learning outcomes.
