What is the latest you can report to Centrelink?
To keep your payment you’ll need to:
- report your income for the past 14 days every 2 weeks even if it’s $0.
- meet your mutual obligation requirements by agreeing to do the activities in your Job Plan.
- tell us about any changes to your circumstances.
- tell us if you’re going overseas.
What days are Centrelink payments made?
Pensions are paid fortnightly, but calculated on a daily entitlement basis. This means that your first full payment at the new rate of pension will be paid from the 2nd payday after the indexation date.
Does Centrelink pay early for public holidays?
If you don’t need to report employment income, Centrelink will pay you early. “We won’t delay payments because of a public holiday, but we may pay you earlier than normal. An early payment is your normal payment, just paid early,” Centrelink says on its website.

Many people believe Centrelink has access to your bank account and will take it into consideration for your payment rate. This isn’t true. Centrelink can’t access your bank accounts to determine up to date figures.

If you don’t tell us, we may pay you too much. This means you may get a debt and you’ll need to pay us back. You can choose to update your gender details, name or title with us.
How much can you earn before losing Centrelink?
We’ll start to reduce your payment if your income is over $437 a fortnight. The Income Bank can help you keep more of your payment. You can get credits if your income is less than $437 a fortnight. Then you can use the credits when you earn more than $437 in a different fortnight.
