In a purely reserved seating (also known as allocated seating or assigned seating) scheme, each ticket is assigned a specific seat in the venue at the time of purchase. Seats are typically identified by row number/letter, seat number, and sometimes by section.

Do you have to reserve train seats?

There are only a few $1 seats on each Megabus route. Therefore, you’ll want to book your seat months in advance in order to score the lowest fare. Prices go up and up as you get closer to the departure date. Also, while $1 seats are awesome, the seats go up in price as more are sold.
Can I reserve a seat on a train after booking?
The allocation of seats that can be reserved is fully booked or you booked your ticket close to the departure time and the seat reservations have already closed. Not to worry, a portion of seats are always left unreserved, you can sit in any vacant unreserved seat.
Can you reserve a seat on an open return?
If you’d like to reserve a seat, search for a Return ticket, if you’re not fussed about seat reservations and aren’t sure when you’re returning, pick an Open Return. Anytime Return – the outward portions of Anytime Returns are valid for five days, including the date on the ticket.
