Warwick City Council Unanimously Endorses Marriage Equality

Warwick_Blog.png

Moments ago, the Warwick City Council voted to unanimously endorse marriage equality!

More than 75 marriage supporters joined us at Warwick City Hall tonight to testify in support of SB38. Local couples, people of faith, and allies made a strong case for extending the freedom to marry to all loving couples in the Ocean State -- and members of the City Council listened.

Our Campaign Director Ray Sullivan released the following statement thanking members of the City Council for their support:

“We deeply appreciate the Warwick City Council’s endorsement of the marriage equality legislation sponsored by Senator Nesselbush. Along with similar resolutions from the Providence and East Providence councils, and the support of the mayors of Central Falls, Cumberland, North Providence, Pawtucket, Providence and Warwick, this is a powerful demonstration of strong grassroots support for allowing all loving, committed couples the freedom to marry in our communities.”

Warwick is the latest Rhode Island municipality to add its support for marriage equality. Just last week, the East Providence City Council unanimously endorsed the freedom to marry. The Providence City Council has unanimously endorsed as well.

Ask your Senator to stand with the City of Warwick and the supermajority of Rhode Islanders who support marriage equality. Click here to send a message now.
