Jewish Community Relations Council Endorses Marriage Equality

Faith-based support for the freedom to marry is growing like never before! Today, the Community Relations Council (CRC) of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island announced its support for marriage equality in the Ocean State.

The Rhode Island Religious Coalition for Marriage Equality welcomes the CRC into its growing ranks of faith leaders and organizations. Rev. Gene Dyszlewski, an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and chair of the Rhode Island Religious Coalition for Marriage Equality, said:

“We welcome the CRC to our broad and growing coalition of people of faith. The deep and abiding faith of the Jewish people, who have known such hardship throughout the centuries, informs their steadfast commitment to justice and love of neighbor. As a part of the largest Jewish social welfare organization in Rhode Island, the CRC represents a long and vibrant history of engagement in the public affairs of the Ocean State – dating back to the establishment of the first synagogue in America in 1759.

“I am greatly appreciative of their support, and look forward to working with the CRC to ensure the unique protection and recognition of marriage is available to all Rhode Island families.”

The support of the CRC affirms what we already know: people of faith across the state believe in treating others as we want to be treated.

Rhode Islanders United for Marriage is committed to continuing outreach into communities of faith to grow this campaign. Help fuel our organizing efforts -- give now to our work, and your contribution will be doubled!
