House Judiciary Committee hearing scheduled for tomorrow

The historic launch of Rhode Islanders United for Marriage isn’t the only activity we’ll see this week in the campaign to win the freedom to marry! Tomorrow, the House Judiciary Committee will hear testimony on HB5015 -- the bill that will extend marriage to same-sex couples in Rhode Island.

We’re grateful for the numerous same-sex couples, their families, and our staunch allies who will share their stories before the Committee tomorrow to demonstrate why marriage matters to them.

Rhode Islanders United for Marriage will be at the State House all day tomorrow, bringing you the latest updates from the hearing. Here’s how you can take action and stay up to date tomorrow:

  • Contact your legislators: Members of the General Assembly need to hear from marriage supporters every single day until marriage equality becomes law in Rhode Island.
  • Follow @RIUnited on Twitter. We’ll be live-tweeting in the committee room, so we’ll make sure you don’t miss a second. If you’re tweeting about marriage in Rhode Island.
  • “Like” Rhode Islanders United for Marriage on Facebook and be sure to ask your friends to like our page too.

Momentum is at an all-time high, and we’re excited to take this first crucial step tomorrow towards advancing the marriage bill through the General Assembly!

This has nothing to do with wanting to change the “way of life” (whatever that means) of the majority. It has everything to do with giving the minority the same rights and responsibilities you probably already enjoy.
