Only marriage conveys the respect and dignity afforded to two people in a loving, committed, lifelong relationship. Excluding gay and lesbian couples from such an important institution hurts their families unfairly, while providing no benefit to anyone else. That's why I urge the Rhode Island General Assembly to pass marriage equality this year.

Committee Hearing Scheduled! Help Make History
On Thursday, the Rhode Island Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on the marriage bill.
What we do in the next seven days will determine the fate of the freedom to marry in Rhode Island. It’s really that simple. We can’t pass the bill out of the Judiciary Committee without thousands of volunteers committing -- right now -- to helping us build the support we need over the next week.
It’s time to commit to making history. Join us at a critical volunteer action over the next week and help move the Ocean State one step closer to securing marriage equality.
